Idris Elba looks dapper in his whimsical jacket as he accompanies his mum to the world premiere of Hijack

Idris Elba looked handsome as he arrived at the world premiere of his new movie Hijack with his mother Eve on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old actor, who plays Sam Nelson in the thriller, wore a whimsical light gray jacket with an asymmetric collar to the event at the BFI Southbank in London.

He combined the statement piece with matching trousers and dark blue patent leather slippers.

Idris smiled for red carpet photos and was joined by his mum, who showed off her chic sense of style in a printed two-piece suit.

She complemented the flowy pants and matching top with a velvet scarf and eye-catching jewellery.

Idris later posed for photos with his co-star Archie Panjabi, who plays security agent Zahar Ghafoor in the film.

The 51-year-old actress looked glamorous in a voluminous burgundy dress with a ruffled hem and pleated cape.

Idris’ fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of his brand new thriller Hijack – after preview images were released earlier this month.

The Luther star stars in stunning footage on the series, in which he not only starred but also served as executive producer.

Idris appears alongside Emmy Award winner Archie Panjabi, also known for The Good Wife, Snowpiercer and Blindspot.

The show premieres June 28 on AppleTV+.

Fans will be glued to their seats as they watch Idris’ character – entrepreneur Sam Nelson – negotiate with a hijacker for the lives of his passengers.

Meanwhile, co-star Archie, who plays anti-terrorist officer Zahra Gahfoor, will be anxiously awaiting news of the plane’s fate from the ground.

As the storyline unfolds, only time will tell if the quick-thinking rescue attempt devised by Idris will be a master plan or a mistake that will lead to his downfall.

The first two episodes will be released on June 28th, followed by a new episode every Wednesday until the end of the series.

It’s a milestone for Idris as the series marks the first collaboration between AppleTV+, himself and his production company Green Door Pictures.

Creators George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith (Truth Seekers) also executive produced the show through their company Idiotlamp Productions.
