IDs: Florida Immigration IDs Directorio

There are quite a few immigrants who are currently in the United States unaware of the procedures related to their personal identification (ID) cards. Especially when it comes to renewing, replacing or applying for the card itself. With that in mind, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is clarifying a few questions.

The first is that in order to complete the procedures you will need a primary form of identification which can be one of these original documents with your full name on it.

A valid proof of resident registration (Green Card or Form I-551); or an I-551 stamp in your passport. It can also be on the I-94 form.

An order issued by an immigration judge guaranteeing asylum status also works. This must include the registration number for the customer’s country. This is a number that begins with the letter A.

Form I-797 is also accepted, which must include the registration number in the customer’s country. In this sense, it must be pointed out that the client has been assured of asylum status.

In addition, the I-797 form or any other document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) will also work. It is a requirement that it contains the registration number in the client’s country, which shows that the refugee application has been approved.

What about the Social Security test?

For this procedure you will need the original of one of the following documents with your full name and social security number.

This can be the social security card with the customer’s current name; or the non-handwritten Form W-2. A pay slip works the same way; Form SSA-1099; or any 1099 form that is not handwritten.

For proof of residency address, individuals are not allowed to use their current driver’s license or ID card as proof.

In this case, you will need to provide two different documents with your residential address in Florida. It should be made clear that printed documents by fax or printouts are also accepted.

In addition, applicants who obtain a Class E license or Florida ID may have addresses outside of the state or territory of the United States.
