I’m A Celeb’s Fred Sirieix opens up about his “unacceptable behavior” towards Josie Gibson and admits even his mother insulted him after he was voted out of the camp in a row over “sexism and misogyny”.

Fred Sirieix has spoken out about his row with Josie Gibson after viewers accused him of “misogyny”.

The 51-year-old First Dates star became the third housemate to be voted off the show in Tuesday’s episode after he was embroiled in a “sexism” row when the role of camp cook was passed from him to 38-year-old Josie became what viewers claimed was “control” from the This Morning presenter as she tried to prepare dinner.

While Fred tried to defend his opinion in his interview with Ant and Dec after the show, he later admitted he had to deal with his mother, who scolded him for his “unacceptable” behavior.

Speaking on Wednesday’s This Morning, he admitted: “I was talking to my mum and she said ‘Frederick’ – that’s what she calls me when she’s upset – ‘What have you done to Josie? Why are you telling her what to do?’”

“My mother reprimanded me, she said it was unacceptable and she didn’t want me to do it again… she was crazy!”

Fred continued, “To be fair, the meals Josie prepared were good.”

“She was able to cook the food that day, but I was worried about how she would use and recycle the bones, vegetables and peels so we could make stock and dress it all up the next day.”

During his exit interview on Tuesday’s I’m A Celeb, he told the Geordie duo: “She’s just making it up as she goes along.” So I think there’s a lot at stake when it comes to food.

“And of course it’s not just what you’re cooking that will be good because the produce is incredible, but also what you can do with the leftover bones the next day.”

He continued: “You really need the calories, and you have to find them whenever you can.” I think we missed a few meals [by not recycling ingredients],’ he added.

Viewers had seen less mannerisms and more “misogyny” from Fred in recent episodes after his behavior towards his female co-stars led to fans branding him “intolerable”.

When asked why he hadn’t gotten as involved with Sam Thompson and Nick Pickard’s cooking, he said they were a “dream” and there was “no need” for him to do so.

Fred, also a trained chef, had relentlessly criticized single mother Josie’s cooking skills and subsequently told presenters Ant and Dec at a court hearing on Monday night: “There is no method, there is no technique.”

“She just makes it up as she goes along. If she would just let me walk her through it step by step, everything would be fine.”

Viewers were quick to respond with Fred, writing on be.”

Josie was praised online for her calm reaction as she said: “You just have to hand me the reins my love, I know it’s hard.”

Others online told him to back off from Josie, with one person writing: “How Josie didn’t rip Fred’s head off I don’t know.” How conceited and condescending. Bring him out!’

In addition to his argument with Josie, three days into the show, YouTuber Nella Rose, 26, and Fred had an argument where she accused the maitre’d of “belittling” her.

However, the hint of an unequal dynamic was missed as viewers sided with Fred.

Since then, public opinion of Fred has changed due to his “sexist” behavior towards Josie and Nella when assigning camp duties.

First, Nella and Josie were tasked with washing the pots after Fred cooked rice and beans for the roommates.

But there was chaos in the warehouse as the angry First Dates star threw the already washed pots on the floor, complaining that they were “unclean” and sent the couple back.
