Flight attendant Cici, an air travel expert, explains to passengers that visiting a hardware store before a flight can greatly improve the onboard experience.
She reveals this in a TikTok video that several hundred thousand users have seen.
The flight attendant, who works for “a major airline,” admits that using these items available at a hardware store may seem strange, but they are so convenient that you end up not bothering with them. Pay attention.
1- Shoe covers
Sold at bargain prices at hardware stores or even pharmacies, shoe covers can be the ideal solution if you want to avoid germs during your trip.
“When you go through TSA, all you have to do is take off your shoes, put on your shoe covers, and walk through the security scanner without having to worry about germs,” Cici explains in her video. A very practical tip as the scanner is one of the dirtiest places at the airport.
“You can also put them in your hotel room,” she adds, knowing how badly cleaned hotel carpets are.
Additionally, Cici recommends that travelers who don’t have shoe covers use shower caps for the same purpose. “That’s what I do. I take all the shower caps out of the room and use them,” she says.
2- Bungee straps
Next, Cici reveals that she always carries bungee straps with her to easily secure items she doesn’t want to lose. She doesn’t hesitate to show how she attaches a bag to her suitcase. She also attaches a pillow that she wants to take on board.
“And if the removable handle of your suitcase breaks, attach the strap to the fixed handle and you can pull your suitcase,” the flight attendant pointedly adds.
Other flight attendants recommended using a strap to secure checked luggage. This way they cannot accidentally open.
3- Metal pliers
Finally, the flight attendant advises to always take carabiners with you. These metal clips can be useful for securing small items that move easily on board.
Cici recommends, “Use this to attach your water bottle to your bag so it doesn’t fall on others’ heads when you store it in the overhead compartment above your head.”
She puts her words into action and attaches the carabiner to the cap of a reusable bottle, which only needs to be attached to a bag or suitcase.
“This happens a lot,” the stewardess adds at the end of the video, referring to water bottles and other items that can fall out of overhead compartments during the flight.
