I’m a travel expert – here are the subtle flight attendant behaviors to look out for that could mean your pilot is worried about the plane

Many people turn to flight attendants for reassurance during a bumpy flight, and they’re usually nothing more than cool, calm, and composed.

However, there seems to be a certain behavior from cabin crew that you should be aware of. This could be a clear sign that your pilot is starting to worry about the plane.

According to travel expert Michael Gebicki, writing for Stuff NZ, if you see the flight attendants taking a close look at the wing, something could be wrong.

Apparently, pilots tend to ask their crew to look for things for them if they think there’s a problem.

They said: “If the chief steward comes down the aisle and looks anxiously out the windows, it could be in response to a command from the cockpit to check on an engine.”

“Spectacular, yes, especially at night, but not really a problem unless the only motor is spinning, then it’s a big problem.”

“Stay calm, statistically it’s a lot safer up here than driving a car.”

However, they stressed that a failed engine is certainly not too much of a concern since planes have two engines and can fly with one.

This comes after a flight attendant revealed the items passengers should never take on a plane, including items that could land them a expensive fine.

Lisa Kulpa of Buffalo, New York, warned against taking certain items on board a flight.

She reminded passengers not to bring anything with a strong odor, including nail polish or nail polish remover, onto the flight.

Speaking to The Points Guy, she explained, “Nail polish, nail polish remover – those products make the whole plane smelly and some people get sick from them.”

“Other smelly things that aren’t really desirable are extremely fragrant foods.” Even fast food sometimes stinks on a plane.”

She also warned against carrying nail clippers as many airlines don’t allow them due to the sharp nail files involved.

Lisa, co-founder of the blog Basic Travel Couple, revealed that the biggest concern is people bringing their own alcohol on board.

She revealed that it’s a safety issue because alcohol affects people differently at higher altitudes.

She said: “By serving you alcohol during the flight, we can monitor how much you drink.”

In addition, public drunkenness is a crime in many countries and if you get drunk on a flight you can face fines of over £1,000.

However, the flight attendant also gave advice on the most important items to take on board.

She admitted that she should always carry necessary items like car keys, medicines and electronic devices because they might get lost in hand luggage.

She also recommended wearing a sweater as flights are often chilly and the temperature cannot be controlled.

And for those who like to take off their shoes during the flight and bring flip flops, because she advises against going barefoot to the toilet.”
