Exhausted from constantly having to shave or wax her face, a young woman decided to accept herself for who she is and grow her beard.
Coral Sanchez started growing hair on her chin when she was just 9 years old. By the time she was 12, she had to shave every morning to avoid attracting the attention of bullies, she says. But in the afternoon regrowth began to show. She covered her face with foundation to hide everything.
Coral became homeless at the age of 26 and couldn’t shave every day. She began to wonder why she was doing all this to herself. So she decided to drop the razor.
She suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome, which disrupts the functioning of the ovaries and causes her hirsutism, the excessive growth of dark hair.
The 29-year-old Seattle-American’s lover Illias Clark, 25, an artist and writer, supports her, assuring her that she is beautiful and that her hair is produced naturally by her body.
Coral, who is now a content creator, now wears her full beard on social media, even dying it occasionally.
“If you feel like you’re really beautiful, no one can convince you otherwise. I am beautiful. Lots of love to everyone,” Coral proudly wrote on Instagram.
