A long-distance couple has sparked a heated debate after revealing they had worked out a contract that allowed them both to sue the other party if one of them cheats or doesn’t answer their calls.
Devon Motley and her boyfriend Geren Gathright took to TikTok to share the document – which they both signed – setting out the rules of their relationship before their split.
The Texas-based couple – who didn’t reveal how far apart they would be or where they were going – said they wrote the document together so they could “sue” if “something goes wrong.”
In a viral video that has racked up over 1.4million views so far, Devon boasted about the contract, which says fraud, defamation, neglect and not staying in “continuous daily contact” are violations.

The Texas-based couple – who didn’t reveal how far apart they would be – said they wrote the document together so they could “sue” if “things go wrong.”
The clip begins with the contract stating that neither party may cheat on the other.
Also, it is noted that neither Devon nor Geren can end the relationship before September 2024.
According to the document, each party must share location with the other 24/7, answer all of the other’s calls, and keep in touch daily.
The contract read: “Both parties are obliged to do the following: Any problems with the other party must be brought to the attention of the party concerned.”
“Arguments must lead to a resolution, an apology, and a final act of love (if long-distance, each party must have a gift sent home).
“Location must always be on.” Every call seen must be answered. We need to call at least once a day. Stay in constant touch throughout the day. Always give extra security.’
Devon and Geren also listed various things that would be considered breaches of the contract.
“Violation 16: Cheating, including but not limited to: sleeping with someone of the opposite sex, sexual contact with someone of the opposite sex, texting or calling the opposite sex, or sexual innuendo with malicious intent.”

“Infringement 17: Defamation of any party contained in this Agreement; complaining about your relationship, badmouthing your partner, etc.
“Violation 18: ‘Neglecting the emotional or physical condition of the participating party.’ Therefore, a lack of assurance would be considered in this violation,” the document reads.
Since the document is not notarized, it is not legally binding. So if Devon or Geren cheat, neither of them can sue.
According to a study by Kiroo, the average couple in a long-distance relationship breaks up after just four months.
