The trial, which is entering its final phase, is making headlines in the UK press as the allegations against Lucy Letby are chilling. The 33-year-old nurse is accused of murdering seven premature babies between summer 2015 and summer 2016 and attempting to kill at least ten others.

Taking advantage of her position in the maternity ward at Chester Hospital near Liverpool, she allegedly deliberately removed a little girl’s airway, injected air into two twins 24 hours apart, killed one of them within 90 minutes or even administered insulin Nutrition added to newborns.

Overwhelming evidence was presented at the trial, while the young woman continues to plead her innocence. She also assures that some doctors want to acquit themselves with allegations of their incompetence.

“I don’t deserve to live”

But the ex-nurse arrested in 2018 found it difficult to justify the documents found at her home. These letters sound like the confessions of a person overcome with guilt: “I am the devil (…) I do not deserve to live.” I killed them on purpose because I am not good enough to take care of them (…) I was it that did it!’, ‘I’ll never know what it’s like to have a family.’

After these crimes, which took a long time to be solved – infant mortality is higher in premature babies – his behavior took an increasingly unhealthy turn. In fact, the young woman searched Facebook for the parents who had lost their child.

It is now up to the deliberations of the people’s jury to decide whether Lucy Letby is guilty or not. She faces life imprisonment.
