A motorist died Tuesday morning in Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur in Montérégie after veering off the road and setting fire to his vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 1:15 p.m., the driver of the white BMW reportedly overtook at kilometer 28 southbound on Highway 15 before losing control of his vehicle.
The car went off the roadway before crashing violently into a line of trees on the side of the freeway.
The driver, who was alone on board, became stuck in his vehicle, which caught fire after the impact.
The Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur fire brigade was dispatched to the scene of the fire to bring the fire under control, but it was too late. The driver was pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigator from the Sûreté du Québec accident site is trying to determine the causes and circumstances of this deadly road trip.
