Around 250 people were killed at a rave party near the border with the Gaza Strip last Saturday. Efraim Mordechayev, an Israeli soldier who was present during the attack by Hamas commandos, spoke to CNEWS this Wednesday, October 11, about the horror scene he witnessed.
A mass attack that was as unexpected as it was deadly. At 6:30 a.m., music was still echoing at the Tribe of Nova festival, but rocket fire could be heard in the distance. The Hamas men approached with paramotors. For festival-goers, what would happen was unimaginable.
“We panicked but stayed calm, we’re used to that. “We are used to firing rockets and code red alert,” testified Efraim Mordechayev, an Israeli soldier who was present at the scene at the time of the attack.
The crowd began to wonder about the source of these shots that were getting closer and closer. Then the festival visitors became aware of what was happening. “We walked slowly at first. We laughed and didn’t take the situation seriously. But after we saw the terrorists, we became very nervous and panicked,” Efraim added.
Thousands of people tried to flee across the Negev Desert. The terrorists fired military equipment at close range at the festival-goers, who had no time to escape. “Imagine using a rocket to fire at houses or tanks at a group of 20 civilians. I just saw rockets coming towards us,” concluded the Israeli soldier who was present at that terrible scene.
The attack claimed 250 victims and several dozen people were kidnapped. They’re still missing.
