247 The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, expressed this Tuesday (16) at the World Economic Forum in Davos that “progress has been observed on all fronts” in the Argentine economy since the inauguration of the extreme president, Javier Milei.

Milei's regime has implemented its socalled “chainsaw plan” against government spending in Argentina, dismantling the state and strengthening the financial market.

When asked about the Argentine president's measures, Georgieva replied, according to information from the Télam agency: “So far, so good.”

“This administration is very aggressive in addressing some of the deficiencies that we all see. When it comes to taxes, you're spending more than you can afford. Reservations are empty. So we’re seeing progress on all of those fronts,” she told Bloomberg.

CONTINUED AFTER RECOMMENDATIONS

At the same time, Georgieva explained that the IMF has “great interest” in Argentina protecting the most vulnerable population while continuing its “very bold reforms.”

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in a statement last week that it had reached an agreement with Argentina on measures to create economic stability in the country. According to the statement, Argentina could have access to around $4.7 billion.

Georgieva will meet with Cabinet Chief Nicolás Posse and Economy Minister Luis Caputo in Davos today.
