A man was woken up during his nap and arrested by Sherbrooke police Saturday after crashing into a median in the Plaza de l’Ouest parking lot.
On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., a citizen called the Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) to report that a vehicle had just struck a median with her vehicle. Thanks to a good description of the car, the police found the suspect in the parking lot of the Plaza de l’Ouest on Bourque Boulevard, the SPS said in a press release on Saturday.
In order to arrest the 45-year-old man, the police had to take him from Morpheus’ arms and eventually discovered that he was heavily intoxicated.
The man was therefore arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a weapon and drug trafficking. After the arrest, a loaded handgun (pistol) and drugs were found in the vehicle.
The man, known to police, remained in custody on Saturday evening and will appear in court later in the day on Sunday on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of drugs for the purpose of drug trafficking and several breaches of police probation.
