Imperialism wants to use the Lebanese government against Hezbollah

This Saturday (16), one of the newspapers, the spokesmen of North American imperialism, the Financial Times, published an article that said: “The United States, the United Kingdom and France are exploring options to persuade Hezbollah to withdraw from the Lebanon”Israel” in a diplomatic attempt to prevent the outbreak of a fullscale conflict between the militant group and “Israel.”

As reported in the article, diplomatic negotiations are underway with “Israel” and Lebanon. They aim for both “Israel” and Hezbollah to cease hostilities to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control by escalating the conflict. In particular, they aim to pass UN Resolution No. 1,701 of 2006, when “Israel” suffered a catastrophic defeat at the hands of Hezbollah in the invasion of Lebanon, which prevented the growth of the Party of Allah in front of the Lebanese population and with it Its military has accelerated in strength and is one of the most important armed groups currently opposing Zionism in the Middle East.

At that time, the resolution was proposed in the midst of the ceasefire negotiated between Lebanon and “Israel” to put an end to the war started by Zionism and to already impose on Hezbollah the condition of giving up the border with the Zionist state. This made it possible to create a “buffer zone”, i.e. a no man's land, in which none of the parties involved in the conflict would carry out military activities.

It turns out that, as the FT article suggests, Hesbolá is not involved in the negotiations to implement Resolution No. 1,701. Therefore, imperialism is trying to get Lebanon to surrender and send Lebanese forces to the southern border to contain Hezbollah.

For this purpose, the imperialist countries even intend to use the UN forces stationed in the region, namely Unifil. And not only to use them, but to strengthen them, in the sense that imperialism finally demarcates the “Blue Line”, that is, the official border between Lebanon and “Israel”, a border that is not officially demarcated both countries, especially due to the aggression of the Zionist state.

However, according to the Financial Times, senior officials involved in the negotiations reported that implementation of Resolution No. 1,701 was difficult to achieve:

“'People can see what a solution would look like, but it's very difficult to get there,' said a Western diplomat. “You must first get 'Israel' and Hezbollah to stop fighting, and you must get Hezbollah to agree.”

“People briefed on the discussions warned that they were still at an early stage and that there were significant obstacles to overcome.”

It turns out that with the adoption of Resolution No. 1,701 the border between Lebanon and “Israel” would inevitably have to be established, which in turn would mean the recognition of the legitimacy of the Zionist state, resulting in a profound blow to Hezbollah. Since the Party of Allah is a group supported by Iran, this would also be a defeat for the Persian country. Also a defeat for the Palestinians, since Hezbollah is, alongside local resistance organizations, the most important organization fighting against “Israel” for the national liberation of Palestine.

Ultimately, the adoption of the above resolution would be a defeat for all oppressed countries, but especially for those in the Middle East.

It is also evidence that imperialism is continuing its policy of relative containment of the conflict and is looking for a way out that will allow it to maintain control over the Middle East.

They aim to curb the genocidal actions of “Israel” against the Palestinians, prevent the growth of mass resistance to Zionism around the world, further strengthen Palestinian resistance and promote a revolutionary situation in the Arab world that This could lead to the dissolution of “Israel” and an unprecedented crisis of imperialism.

At the end comes the news from the Financial Times that three of the world's main imperialist countries, the US, the UK and France, are trying to contain Hezbollah action on the border between Lebanon and “Israel” in the wake of the North American's recent moves and European imperialism, which, through its highest officials such as Volker Turk, Anthony Blinken as well as Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden himself, is urging “Israel” to change its policy towards Gaza to a less belligerent one.
