We could call this mini keyboard Back to the Future! When the era of full-screen smartphones began with the first generation of iPhones, it was the death knell for the Canadian BlackBerry.

But not for this small company that restores the hardware part of BlackBerrys or Nokias: the physical keyboard.

Clicks Technology today introduces the Clicks Creator keyboard for iPhones. It's a nostalgic throwback to the days of BlackBerry and Nokia, when pressing physical buttons was the pinnacle of mobile communication.

“We use keyboards every day on our desktops, laptops and tablets – so it's a little strange that we've forgone physical buttons on smartphones,” said Michael Fisher, co-founder of Clicks Technology.

Bonus: more screen space

The Clicks keyboard combines the advantages of touch and typing. By moving the keyboard away from the screen as you type, Clicks almost doubles the available screen.

With real keys, you can now feel the delicate pressure of your keystrokes in your fingers as you type your texts and messages.

Clicks keyboards also include keyboard shortcuts like Command + H to navigate to the home screen or Command + Spacebar to start searching. Just like on your computer keyboard.

$139

The Clicks keyboard connects directly to the iPhone via the Lightning or USB-C port.

Clicks sells for $139 (approximately $190 CAD) for the iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro devices and $159 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company opens its order book today and says it will ship on February 1st; You have the choice between yellow and gray.

Here's hoping the company develops a battery case version of its physical keyboard for the iPhone.
