In 2006, Homer Simpson once ran out of oxygen in a submarine while exploring a wreck

Nostradamus Can Get Dressed: The Simpsons writing team just struck again.

This time it’s the disappearance of the Titanic submarine from the Ocean Gate company while it wanted to explore the wreck of the Titanic, already featured in an episode of the eternal animated series.

According to the New York Post, the 10th episode of the 17th season, which originally aired in 2006, features a scene that bears striking similarities to the current situation.

In the episode “Homer’s Paternity Coot” (“Voyage au Fond du Père” in the Quebec version), Homer meets a man, Mason Fairbanks, who he believes is his real biological father.

With the latter he embarks on a treasure hunt in small individual submarines.

The two then discover a shipwreck full of treasure, but Homer finds a way to get stuck in a coral reef.

As he tries to free himself, he sees his oxygen reserves dwindling.

Then he passes out, only to wake up in the hospital three days later, knowing full well that his father is actually Abraham (Grandpa Simpson).

But does that mean the Simpsons “predicted” the sinking of the Titan submarine?

As the YouTuber points out in the video above, more or less in the sense that oxygen starvation is a common scenario in movies or fictional stories about submarines.

On the other hand, the most dramatic aspect of the matter is the presence of a father-son duo (the father being wealthy) in both the Simpsons episode and the Ocean Gate incident.

However, until the mystery of the Titan’s disappearance is solved, it will be impossible to know how similar the events are.
