A not so surprising success, because when the project was announced, all fans of the manga were euphoric. In addition, many of them took part in the treasure hunt organized by Netflix in the heart of Paris. The luckiest among them were even able to discover the first two episodes in the preview at the Grand Rex. And when it came out, everyone’s opinion was: They loved this live-action series!
What does One Piece say?
Just like the anime released on Japanese television in 1999, the live-action series follows the adventures of Luffy. The famous young man in the straw hat wants to become the king of the pirates by discovering the treasure called One Piece. But he will have a big advantage: his elastic skin, which he has thanks to the powers of a dragon fruit. Luffy can also rely on different characters to achieve his goal. For example, during his long journey aboard his own ship, he will meet Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Sanji and many others.

One Piece’s creator shares valuable advice on watching live action
To fully enjoy the Netflix live-action series, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the manga, gave some advice to the streaming platform’s subscribers. This will be my first time watching the series in Japanese since then These are the anime’s original voices dubbing their characters. Fans of the manga will therefore not be confused if they discover Luffy and the others in the human version and no longer in the anime version. Eiichiro Oda was also instrumental in the creation of this live-action film. For him, it absolutely had to be consistent with the story of the manga. Once validated, Netflix was able to begin production!
