In Calgary, a prostitute was arrested and charged with drug abuse and robbery of at least one client while she was on probation, while similar charges were laid in Vancouver.
According to the Alberta Police ALERT team, Jessica Kane, 31, worked as a sex worker in Calgary between October and December 2022.
However, her release conditions at the time prohibited her from engaging in sex work and from leaving British Columbia, where she faces seven counts of administering a drug to a control subject and seven counts of theft. According to a Vancouver Sun compilation, Kane also faces four counts of fraud and two counts of extortion.
The woman was also charged with murder, but that was ultimately dropped by the Crown.
The defendant, who presents herself to her clients under many pseudonyms including Claudia, Maria, Kara, Kimmy, Bambi, Ava, Lexa, Hazel, Honey, Mia, Becca, Angel, Heidi, Meghan, Natalie and Alexis, is currently behind bars British Columbia.
The crimes Kane is accused of in British Columbia allegedly occurred between March and July 2021. During a search of a condominium linked to the sex worker, police discovered drug stash, nearly $50,000 worth of cash and a Firearm.
Jessica Kane’s trial is scheduled to continue next spring.
