HAVANA, May 10 (RHC) The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Cuba celebrated this Wednesday, together with representatives of the island’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Havana, the 100th anniversary of the national leader of this Eurasian country, Heydar Aliyev (1923-2003).
To mark the anniversary, the Baku Ambassador to the Cuban capital, Ruslan Rzayev, opened the photo exhibition Heydar Aliyev 100, Moments of Life, at the José Martí National Library, which summarizes the extensive political career of Azerbaijan’s founding leader and first president of that nation.
In his words, the diplomat highlighted Aliyev’s contribution to the consolidation of his country’s independence and industrialization in the midst of complex circumstances, as well as his influence on the current efforts to promote development.
He stressed that President Ilham Aliyev declared 2023 as the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in honor of this prominent son of Azerbaijan. (Source: Latin Press)
