In Mexico, Chile expresses its commitment to regional integration promoted by the Pacific Alliance

SANTIAGO, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) — During an official visit to Mexico, Chile restated its commitment to Pacific Alliance (PA) promoted regional integration at the XXVII. Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the multilateral mechanism expressed in the city of Mexico, said the Chilean Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (Subrei) today.

“From Chile we reaffirm our commitment to the Pacific Alliance. For the government of Chilean President Gabriel Boric, this regional integration mechanism is a strategic axis,” Subrei Undersecretary of State José Miguel Ahumada said at the meeting.

Ahumada stressed that the PA, made up of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, “has carried out a successful integration process and we want this to continue”.

He also expressed the South American country’s interest in continuing the work of admitting Costa Rica and Ecuador as full members.

During the meeting on Thursday, the foreign and trade ministers of the member countries signed the decision on the guidelines for the relations of the PA with the associated countries as well as the decision on the 2023 work plan of the cooperation fund from the integration mechanism.
