In Michigan, gynecologists are going to the front lines to protect abortion rights

Shari Maxwell has 34 years of OB/GYN behind her. Listening to her share her memories is to see the women and their suffering in her office at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan.

“I think of a young girl who was gang raped. I think of those poor women in frail health whose pregnancy will greatly aggravate diabetes or heart problems. I am thinking of a woman suffering from very aggressive cancer, we know that chemotherapy and radiation are harmful to the fetus, should she wait nine months for this urgent treatment and risk giving birth to her child and dying? I have to give them the option of an abortion. These are tough decisions. women cry here I have seen some tell me that they would rather pray than have an abortion.
