To mark the occasion, more than 14,000 people sent him wishes through his foundation, the Carter Center, which created a mosaic in his likeness that summarized the messages of his admirers.

Many celebrities also wished him a happy birthday, including former President Barack Obama.

“You have inspired so many people with your leadership, character and commitment to service,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Although Jimmy Carter is physically limited due to his illness, he is aware of the love he has received since announcing that he is receiving palliative care, his son Jason Carter tells American media channel CNN.

The President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 also remained well informed about the news and the latest results of his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.

Jason Carter says the outpouring of sympathy from the public in recent months has helped him personally come to terms with the fact that his father is in his final moments.

“I was not prepared to experience such grief every day,” explains Jason Carter. Because of the support we have received, it was wonderful to make this public.”

He adds that his parents are “at home, in love, and they know they are.”

“You can’t get much more from life than what’s given to them, and they know that,” he adds. My parents are at peace.”

The Carter family will gather on Sunday to privately mark the anniversary.
