In Paris, an agreement for Israeli hostages is getting closer

French President Emmanuel Macron is trying – perhaps even successfully – to restart deadlocked negotiations over the Gaza Strip with a round of talks in Paris. How and where exactly remains confidential. The only thing that seemed certain on Sunday was that the head of the US secret service CIA, William Burns, his counterpart David Barnea, head of the Israeli secret service Mossad, as well as colleagues from Egypt and the head of the Qatari government, Mohammed bin Abdelrahman al-Thani, starting Sunday night, would meet. The latter also represents the views of Palestinian Hamas, whose leaders are not present in Paris. This was the only way the Israelis were willing to send the heads of their secret services, Mossad and Shin Bet, to Paris.
