Late Thursday afternoon, a head-on collision between two vehicles occurred on Highway 640 at mile 42 near the entrance to Highway 25 South.

The accident occurred on the eastbound lane around 4:20 p.m., according to the Sûreté du Québec.

According to images from surveillance cameras at the Grenier-Chrysler dealership in Montée Masson, the suspect may have been pursued by authorities before walking in the opposite direction.
According to a witness, the police vehicle collided with another car during the chase. The suspect would have continued toward the entrance to Highway 25 South before coming face to face a few miles further.

One of the two vehicles apparently caught fire after the collision, as we can see in a video provided by a dealership employee.
Two people were taken to hospital, one with more serious injuries.
The entrance ramp to Highway 25 South has been closed indefinitely since 4:50 p.m. Thursday.
The images have not been authenticated by police authorities. The Sureté du Québec confirms that the file has been forwarded to the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI).
