In eastern Ukraine, fighting in Bakhmout has intensified in recent days. The Russian soldiers had managed to break through the city, but the Ukrainian forces launched a counter-offensive and managed to push them back. Since the withdrawal of Russian forces from the city of Kherson in southern Ukraine, most of the fighting has now taken place on the front lines in the east of the country. In the Donetsk region, the clashes mainly affect the outskirts of the city of Bachmout, which Russia has been trying to conquer since the summer.

In the city, which has now been largely destroyed, the fighting has intensified in recent days. After a breakthrough by the Russian army, the Ukrainian forces launched a counter-offensive and were able to push back the troops from Moscow.
