Duke University reportedly opened the Gender Care Clinic for Children and Adolescents in 2015 and reportedly treats children with “gender dysphoria“ from 2 years.
Duke Director of Child and Adolescent Services Deanna Adkins explained in a 2015 interview that the center also works with young children. “We work with all types of children, from babies to teenagers. And we take care of kids with gender issues,” Adkins told the broadcaster. ABC 11.

The university is also said to offer hormone therapy to students under a “informed consent protocol,” meaning it will waive a letter from a healthcare professional before students can undergo genderspecific treatments.
According to the Daily Caller, Dr. Colby Dendy, an assistant professor at East Carolina University School of Medicine, said sex reassignment treatments are available to “people of all ages” and should be integrated into primary care. Dendy also explained that the clinic LGBTQ+ The University is supported by the Department of Pediatrics and the University.
“The literature tells us that children can start with their gender identity around the age of 4, so we don’t want to exclude anyone in the field of pediatrics,” Dendy said.
East Carolina University’s Health Sciences Committee on Sexual and Gender Diversity page says the university serves “children” and people of “all ages” in several departments, including emergency medicine and pediatrics.
