Indefensible: Life imprisonment for investigator Maxime Dubois? – The Journal de Montreal

The trial against investigator Maxime Dubois (Mathieu Baron) ends on Monday in the daily newspaper Untenable. Will he be sentenced to life in prison or will the jury exonerate him? ?

It is his lover Marie-Anne (Anne-Élisabeth Bossé) and his best friend Léo (Sébastien Delorme) who do their best to get him out of this swamp.

The two defense lawyers have been rowing in front of Judge Lamy (Jacques L’Heureux) since the trial began. In front of them is the tough Crown Prosecutor Sandra Biron (Marie-Laurence Lévesque), who is flanked by the investigator Marcoux (Julie Deslauriers).

Fortunately for Marie-Anne and Léo, at the end of the trial they were able to rely on the crucial testimony of witness Virginie Bernier (Laurianne S. Thibodeau), who was at the Café Marché du Center where the shooting took place in which Maxime is accused, of killing an innocent client, Nico Gendron (Anthony Parent-Castanha), the son of police officer Jean-Pierre Gendron (Guy Jodoin) and his wife Lucie (Lynda Johnson).

Virginie said she didn’t hear Nico say: “Don’t shoot!” Don’t pull! », Contrary to what the Crown claimed with the support of the victim’s girlfriend, Andréa (Virginie Morin-Laporte).

Let’s remember that Maxime avoided carnage by shooting the fake policeman in front of him, and when he shot Nico, it was only to “neutralize the threat” because he suspected he was armed – he saw his Hands off – while the fake police officer aimed at him and apparently used Nico Andréa as a protective shield.

Maxime stated that he did not want to kill Nico but wanted to prevent him from harming him, a decision he had to make within seconds. Still, the empathy he showed could hurt the jury after Maxime admitted he made a mistake.

It’s not easy being a juror

In this case, we were able to delve deeper into the difficult work of the jury who hold the fate of the defendants in their hands. We delved into their discussions behind closed doors and understood that a wide variety of personalities were at the table. What can we say about juror Marie-Soleil (Anne Valérie Bouchard), who is very sharp and particularly vindictive towards the police in general? Fortunately, the new president of the jury, Nathalie (Brigitte Tremblay), and the juror Mario (René Rousseau) stand up to him. They have to reach a unanimous agreement, but tensions are rising.

Unbearable waiting for a verdict

At the very end of last Thursday’s episode, we could see with a simple show of hands that three of the eleven jurors wanted to acquit Maxime. We’ll find out his fate in Monday’s episode, but the impasse remains right at the start of the half hour, the jurors remain focused on their position and some are at their wits’ end.

At Lapointe, MacDonald & Desjardins the wait for the verdict is just as unbearable, but we change our minds by deciding the fate of Me Legrand (Martin-David Peters). Will our resurrected man be able to return to his old position?

Return of Hubert Proulx

Additionally, this week we see the return of actor Hubert Proulx, who made his mark in the first season by portraying Pierre Poirier. Because the trial against Dr. Charbonneau (Christian Bégin), who manipulated him and played in his head, is prepared. Proulx was named to the Gemini roster for his play in the first season. His character improves, but remains fragile.
