Since the beginning of the season, the Indéfendable newspaper has given us some excellent episodes, but we didn’t expect to see the best of them all on Thursday.
Without warning, the writers of the legal series put the protagonist Léo McDonald (Sébastien Delorme) in mortal danger.
After telling his best friend Max (Mathieu Baron) that he had slept with his girlfriend Marianne (Anne-Élisabeth Bossé), he answered a call from the sister of Christophe Côté (excellent Michael Richard), who was recently released from prison Imprisoned for 25 years for a crime he did not commit. He went to his apartment to see if he was there since he had fled his temporary home. How surprised he was to find the man armed and in a panic. Christophe Côté is so angry at the system that has made him a dangerous criminal that he is willing to do anything, even assassinate a lawyer.
Luckily, Leo managed to reach Marianne through her daughter Romy’s phone, and the lawyer convinced Max to come to Leo’s rescue. At the end of the episode we hear a shot and Max storms into the house.
We don’t know what condition Max will find his (ex)boyfriend in. Obviously, we know Leo isn’t dead, but he could very well be in post-traumatic shock or injured.
In addition, the synopses of the next episodes tell us in particular that Léo will refuse to collaborate on an article by Joachim Dufour (Mikhail Ahooja). Recall that the latter did a podcast on the Christophe Côté affair.
The dramatic tension in this episode was amazing, we didn’t want to miss a single second of this hostage-taking with the protagonist of the series. Also, we had never seen Leo in such a vulnerable position. This allowed us to see the impeccable lawyer in a different light. Sébastien Delorme has given his alter ego a lot of humanity and fragility. Anne-Elisabeth Bossé also revealed to us a Marianne more vulnerable than ever.
We appreciate the work of the entire team behind this great episode! It promises for the final!
Note that there are 24 episodes left until the conclusion of the first season.
Keep in mind that the young actress who plays Maya, the young woman who drugged her cousin, has two very well known parents in Quebec. All details here.
