India and the world come together to celebrate Buddhism’s most important day Miami

BANGALORE – Buddhists this Monday in the Indian city of Bangalore celebrated the “Buddha Jayanti” or “Buddha Purnima”, the most important day for Buddhism, commemorating the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha.

All of the events known as Vesak Day coincided with a full moon night.

This celebration is shared by millions of people around the world who follow the Buddha’s teachings and philosophy.

It was on the day of Vesak 2,500 years ago, more precisely in the year 623 BC. C. when Siddhartha Gautama, who would come to be known as Buddha, was born.

On that day he also attained enlightenment and some time later, at the age of 80, he passed away.

As part of the celebration, Buddhists commemorate their master by going to temples and making offerings.
