A man died at a zoo in India on Thursday afternoon after jumping into a lion's den to take a photo with the animal.
The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. when Prahalad Gurjar, 34, apparently drunk, scaled the wall and fence before jumping into the enclosure despite warnings from staff at the Sri Venkateswara Zoo in Tirupati, The Times of India reported.
“After seeing the human in the enclosure, the animal attacked. Although the zookeeper and other security personnel nearby attempted to rescue the person, the animal dragged the person into the enclosure,” the amusement park said, according to Fox News.
In just 10 minutes, the 12-year-old animal had killed Prahalad Gurjar. Zoo staff then took him to his night house so they could recover the 30-year-old's body.
