What are you willing to do for quick propaganda and voter reassurance? An age-old question that has found a new declension in India in at least an unscrupulous gesture by the Prime Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann. The politician actually went to the banks of the Kali Bein, the region’s sacred river, which has been monitored for some time for the constant spills of sewage it is exposed to. To reassure the locals, Mann didn’t think twice: he took a glass of water and drank it without hesitation to the applause of those present. A move that apparently cost him a lot. The Prime Minister was indeed admitted to a hospital in Delhi with an intestinal infection. A message partially denied by Mann’s party, who announced the politician would go to hospital without a normal routine check-up.
