Kimarie Wright, 26, has been arrested and charged with murder and involuntary manslaughter in connection with Davidson’s killing.

Surveillance video showed Davidson entering the restaurant, approaching Wright and punching her, according to police. Wright then drew a pistol and Davidson and others ran from the building.

Wright then followed Davidson to the restaurant’s exit and fired multiple shots at her and other fugitives before walking back into the building, according to ABC 57.

“I don’t know if I have tears left,” South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski said.

Ruszkowski said that Davidson and Wright knew each other and that people tried to end the altercation before it met its tragic end.

James Mueller, a former adviser to predecessor and now Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, has seen nine gun deaths in the first five months of 2022 so far.

“It’s hard to believe that only senseless violence can compound a trauma from a previous trauma. We need to break the cycle as soon as possible,” Mueller told WSBT. “It’s not fate. This is something we can choose to do. We can come together as a community and put an end to this.”

“It’s okay to disagree, it’s okay to have some opinions that get emotionally heated, but you can’t bring guns to it. You need to figure out how to resolve these issues peacefully,” he added.
