At the meeting, Jaishankar conveyed a warm greeting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Russian President and also conveyed a personal message from the Indian dignitary, the foreign minister himself said on his social media.
He also briefed Putin on talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister and Head of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, which he considered important in guiding them towards the future development of relations between the two nations.
The day before, Jaishankar and Lavrov signed the protocol of bilateral consultations for the period 2024-2028 after a meeting that the Indian foreign minister described as comprehensive and useful.
Both discussed topics such as progress in economic cooperation, energy trade, connectivity efforts, techno-military cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, the New Delhi official explained.
As strategic partners, we discuss the international situation and current issues and exchange views related to the Indo-Pacific region, the conflict in Ukraine, the situation in Gaza, Afghanistan and Central Asia, Jaishankar posted on the X platform, formerly Twitter.

The Indian Foreign Minister also confirmed that India-Russia relations reflect geopolitical realities, strategic convergence and mutual benefits.
Likewise, he stated that trade between India and Russia exceeds $50 billion and there is a prospect of exceeding this figure.
After thanking the Russian authorities for the warm welcome, Jaishankar appreciated the progress of relations between both countries, which he said were solid and stable and lived up to the responsibilities of a special and privileged strategic partnership.
On Tuesday, Jaishankar and Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov concluded agreements on nuclear energy and health under the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission.
“We appreciate the fact that our trade is at an all-time high,” the New Delhi official noted, adding that trade, energy, fertilizers and cooking coal are very important parts of the relationship between both nations.
Jaishankar will continue with other engagements in Russia till tomorrow, Friday, which include a visit to the city of Saint Petersburg.
