The rate of inflation Euro area annual report for July was enclosed8.9%, from 8.6% in June. A year earlier the rate was 2.2%. The annual inflation ofEuropean Union it was 9.8%, up from 9.6% in June (2.5% last year). The data was published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the Union. in the Italy Harmonized inflation, as previously reported by Istat, fell slightly to 8.4% (from 8.5% in June), but the basket of goods rose by 9.1%, the record since 1984.

The lowest annual rates were recorded in Franceto Malta (both 6.8%) e Finland (8th%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Estonia (23.2%), Latvia (21.3%) e.g Lithuania (20.9%). Compared with June, annual inflation fell in six Member States, remained stable in three and rose in eighteen.
In July, the largest contribution to the euro area annual inflation rate came from theenergy (+4.02 percentage points), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (+2.08), services (+1.60) and non-energy industrial goods (+1.16).
