Applications that offer discounts of 30 to 60% at the grocery store are popular, although fewer than one in two Quebecers take advantage of them. We are leaving hundreds of dollars on the table each year.

Two chicken skewers for $8.43 instead of $16.86, four Breton sausages for $3.32 instead of $8.29, a Mike's frozen pizza for $2.40 instead of $5.99… all of this is available near you, thanks to anti-food waste applications.
They are called Flashfood, FoodHero, Too Good To Go, Sauvegarde, Mission Salto or SecondLife Market. Grocers there sell products close to their expiration date.
“It's one of the best ways to reduce your grocery bill,” notes grocery price specialist Sylvain Charlebois.

According to a survey the researcher conducted of 726 Quebecers at the end of January, 61% in Quebec have never used them.
Of the 228 people – 31% – who use these apps, 51% use Flashfood, 40% use FoodHero and 30% use Too Good To Go.
Isabelle Marquis is surprised that so many people are leaving so much money on the table while everyone is losing it to inflation.
“We find meat, fruit and vegetables, unprocessed products that we can cook,” explains the experienced nutritionist.
Quebecers who know about it recommend it 95% of the time. Of the 228 people surveyed, 35% are regulars.
The technology has been around since 2019. According to a Quebecer interviewed by Sylvain Charlebois, Maxi and Provigo have the best system.

The less picky the consumer is about the “beauty” of their tomato, the more they will save. There are also these apps for that.
“Grocery retailers are quicker to offer ugly products there. There are very, very good offers,” says Isabelle Marquis.
