Police are currently looking for François Paquette, a 53-year-old man. He is serving three years, four months and 28 days in prison for burglary and trespassing and possession of burglary tools.

CSC says the prisoner’s absence was noted by Archambault Institution Minimum Security Unit personnel during Thursday’s 10pm census.

SCC claims to have contacted the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) “immediately”. “An arrest warrant has been issued for him,” the agency said in a statement.

Paquette is described as having pale complexion, brown eyes, auburn hair and wearing glasses. He is 185 cm tall and weighs 85 kg. The man has also served other prison sentences and is entering.

SCC invites anyone with information on the whereabouts of François Paquette to contact the SQ.

The federal authority says it is investigating the circumstances of the incident and is working with the police “to locate the perpetrator as quickly as possible.”

Archambault Prison is a two tier security facility, a medium security unit and a minimum security unit. It is about twenty kilometers south of Saint-Jérôme.
