Jameis Winston is still waiting for a second major contract. He will wait another year or two. Until then, he’ll be getting a decent salary from the Saints—and potentially earning even more.

PFT received a termination from Winston’s contract. Here are the details.

1. Subscription bonus: $14 million.

2. Base salary in 2022: $1.2 million, fully guaranteed.

3. Base salary for 2023: $12.8 million, of which $5.8 million is guaranteed for injury and signing, and fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2023 season.

So while it’s a two-year, $28 million deal, the Saints could walk out of it a year later for just $15.2 million — if Winston can’t pay for his physical by next March.

The contract is for three years, which can be challenged for cap purposes, allowing the $14 million signing bonus to be spread over five years.

The deal also includes a whopping $16 million in incentives with the same $8 million package in 2022 and 2023.

For every playoff win in which Winston plays at least 50 percent of the snaps, he receives $500,000, up to $2 million a year. For shooting at least 70 percent of the snaps and helping the team reach the playoffs, he receives $500,000 a year. If he has a passer rating of 93.0 or higher and the team makes the playoffs, he gets another $1 million a year. If he completes at least 65 percent of his passes and the team makes the playoffs, he will receive another $500,000 a year. If he shoots at least 70 percent of the snaps and the team lands in the top 10 in total offense, he will receive another $500,000 a year.

He also receives $500,000 in one or both years for being in the Pro Bowl, $1.5 million for being the NFL’s top hitter in one or both years, and $1.5 million for winning the Super Bowl MVP award in one or both years.

So yes, it won’t be easy to get the full $8 million in 2022 or 2023. And if he does enough to earn the full $8 million in any given year, he’s bound to get the second big contract that eluded him. too far.
