Insomniac regrets leak, but guarantees production of “Marvel's Wolverine Giz Brasil

Insomniac released an official statement following losses caused this week by a ransomware attack that exposed confidential internal files. The leaked materials include a playable version of Marvel's Wolverine, a title still in development.

The hacker group Ryshida was responsible for the attack and tried to sell the data on internet forums. However, after failing to find a buyer willing to pay the equivalent of $2 million in Bitcoins, around 1.17TB was apparently released on the internet.

The leaked materials included a release calendar for the next ten years, budget dates, business plans and projects in development. “We are saddened and angered by the recent criminal cyberattack on our studio and the emotional damage it has caused to our team,” Insomniac said in a statement.

Additionally, the studio confirmed that production of the Wolverine game will continue despite the significant impact of the cyberattack and assured that new information will be shared as development progresses.

“Just like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel's Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in production and has undoubtedly evolved over the course of development, as have all of our plans. We will release official information on Marvel’s Wolverine when the time is right.”

Leaked version of “Marvel's Wolverine”

To combat the playable version of “Marvel's Wolverine” circulating online, the company is notifying people who purchase it illegally out of court. However, the company is prepared to take legal action if the issue cannot be resolved.

The PC version was found in the leaked files, it is still incomplete and should change a lot before the official release of the game. However, some information indicates that it was used by developers for internal testing. And they give a good idea of what the game will look like in the future.
