Inter Miami will hold a special ceremony ahead of their next MLS home game to present their historic League Cup trophy.

The MLS club, co-owned by David Beckham, clinched their first Silver Cup on Saturday night after an incredible run to the League Cup final, inspired by summer signing Lionel Messi.

Miami triumphed over Nashville SC in a dramatic penalty shoot-out that ended 10-9 after Drake Callender saved fellow goalkeeper Elliot Panicco’s penalty.

To celebrate their momentous title, Inter Miami will present the trophy to their fans at home ahead of the next league game, the club announced on Sunday.

Inter Miami next return to Fort Lauderdale on August 30 where, ironically, they meet Nashville again, this time in the league.

Earlier on, Messi and company are back in action on Wednesday, continuing their quest for US Open Cup semi-final silver at FC Cincinnati.

The team then resumes MLS action – and his chance of a place in the playoffs – with Messi’s league debut against the Red Bulls in New York on Saturday before finally returning home on August 30.

On Saturday night, Messi scored early in regulation and converted the first shot into a penalty shoot-out as Inter Miami defeated Nashville SC 10-9 on penalties in Saturday night’s League Cup final.

Messi scored for the tenth time in seven games since joining Inter Miami, converting in the 23rd minute.

The ball landed at Messi’s feet after a pass from teammate Robert Taylor was blocked.

Messi dribbled past Nashville defender Walker Zimmerman and fired into the top left corner of the goal just outside the box. Jump goalie Elliot Panicco didn’t get a chance to play the ball.

Fans in Nashville had booed Messi for his previous touches, but the stadium erupted in cheers when the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, who guided Argentina to the World Cup last year, scored.

Messi fired from a similar position in the 71st minute but hit the post as the teams drew 1-1 in regular time.

Messi calmly converted the first shot into a penalty shoot-out, securing Miami their first trophy – their 44th.
