A delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency headed by Rafael Grossi inspected the Ukrainian nuclear power plant near Zaporizhia. The facility – the largest of its kind in Europe – is under Russian control. It is about drawing up a plan to guarantee the safety of the plant, said Grossi.
“It is important that we can continue the dialogue. Thank you for allowing our working group to be here since September,” he said.
Three weeks ago, shells fell not far from the nuclear power plant, after which the power plant was temporarily disconnected from the power grid. Russia and Ukraine blamed each other.
Grossi warns that military activities are increasing in the area and that the situation around the plant has not improved.
On Monday, Grossi exchanged views with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
