The International Federation of Cats has banned Russian cats from competing in their shows in a recent response to invasion of Ukraine.
The International Feline Federation (FIFe) confirmed on Tuesday that cats bred in Russia will not be allowed to compete in their cat shows until May 31st. Vladimir PutinInvasion of Ukraine on February 24.
The FIFe executive board also confirmed that cat owners living in Russia are also banned by the organization until further notice.

Cat shows are popular around the world and it is reported that this move is deeply unpopular on the Chinese social media site Weibo
A statement posted on the FIFe website confirmed the move following an “unprecedented act of aggression” by Russian forces in Ukraine.
Cat lovers have also confirmed that part of their budget is being set aside to help their members in Ukraine – after thanking members in neighboring Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova for the help they have already provided.
The board wrote: “The FIFe Executive Board is shocked and horrified that the army of the Russian Federation has invaded the Republic of Ukraine and started a war.
“Many innocent people have died, many more have been injured and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes to save their lives.
“We can all witness the destruction and chaos caused by this unprecedented act of aggression.
The ban is a consequence of the ban on Russian athletes to participate in Olympic and Paralympic competitions
FIFe confirms that the ban will be in force at least until May 31, when the rules will be “reviewed”
“On top of that, our Ukrainian fellow cat lovers are desperately trying to take care of their cats and other animals in these difficult circumstances.
“We are extremely happy that many members of FIFe clubs bordering Ukraine, such as Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, lend a helping hand to their Ukrainian breeding friends.”
The move was reportedly eagerly followed in China by the term “Russian cats banned” overnight on China’s social media site Weibo, according to Inside information.
FIFe is a collection of national cat lovers’ organizations, described as the “United Nations of Cat Federations”, which began in 1949 and includes 39 member states.
The organization regulates cat shows in its member states and holds a world show every October.
The ban stems from a ban on Russian athletes from participating in the Olympic and Paralympic competitions, a move announced the day before the Beijing Winter Paralympics.
The Russian national football team and Russian clubs have also been banned from competing in European and international competitions by FIFA and UEFA.
