Connected 61 hours a week – For Italians, being connected 61 hours a week means 132 days a year and actually 30.5 years of life. Of this, almost 21 hours are spent at work and more than 40 hours are spent on various online activities.
The online activities – However, most of Italians’ weekly time, equivalent to 7 hours and 44 minutes, is spent on TV streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video. On the other hand, seven hours and 14 minutes are the hours allotted to social media like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Another 4 hours and 44 minutes per week is spent watching videos, for example on YouTube, while 4 hours and 38 minutes are spent listening to music on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud and similar platforms. In addition, 3 hours and 16 minutes per week are spent on research, 2 hours and 26 minutes on e-commerce and a further 2 hours and 13 minutes on administration and online banking services.
Internet and Online Scams – Spending so much time online also increases your risk of becoming a victim of cyber scams, especially in your 30s. According to the survey, more than 80% of Italian users provide their first and last name online, followed by their date of birth (77%), full addresses (63%), job titles (42%), tax numbers (38%). and relationship status (22%). In addition, one in five Italians publicly revealed their clothing size (21%) and their bank details (19%).
What would Italians give up for deleting personal data on the web? – When asked “What would you give up in exchange for permanently erasing your personal data from the internet”, Italians answered: video games (28%), alcohol (27%) or sweets (17%). “Today, a large part of our lives can be done online, from making payments to enjoying TV shows and games.
