Rio Carlinhos Maia, 32, took to social media this Saturday to defend himself after an Internet user accused him of defrauding Girabank, a digital bank that he had already promoted on the Internet. “An important thing about Girabank: As most of you already know, I left the company almost a year ago because every time there was a problem, people came and beat me up. There could be a million things going on that are good, but there were some problems…” the influencer began via Instagram Stories.

Carlinhos then denied that there were any irregularities in the company and urged users to remain calm. “Girabank issued a notice to all account holders today, okay, guys? As far as I know, as other partners told me, Girabank was sold to another American group… I say this with affection because I was the one who suggested it. Don’t worry, no one’s money will be stolen,” said the influencer.

“The transactions, I don't know what banking is all about… What I don't understand, okay? So check out your email sent to me here. Look at your email, they respond to everything in the world,” he stated, without revealing an official response from the bank.

“There is a change of ownership and there is no possibility of anyone’s money being stolen. Since it cannot be stolen, it affects the central bank and everything else. Don't worry, check your email, okay? “You solve a solution to everything,” he concluded.

O DAY contacted Girabank but received no response at the time of publishing this article.

Understand the controversy

Carlinhos Maia's statement came after the hashtag “Girabank” was one of the most commented on hashtags on X, formerly Twitter, this Saturday afternoon. On the social network, the comedian and the company were accused of cheating on the sister of one of the users.

In one thread, an internet user described the young woman's difficulties in contacting the bank after her account was deactivated without prior notice.

“She sent me a screenshot of the bank's website and the reviews are terrible! Many people say that their accounts have also been deactivated and they no longer have access to the money in the account. I went on Instagram and…” “Comments on the photos didn’t work. was different,” warned the user, who revealed that his sister’s account contained an amount of R$10,000.

The netizen also claimed that Carlinhos was also responsible for the difficulties faced by bank users, as countless people became account holders following the comedian's recommendations. “It makes no sense to say that he has separated his image from the bank. When the 'handsome' guy was feeling good, he would do the jabá, express confidence and everything, beat his chest with the name of the bank on his forehead.” Then he comes and says it has nothing to do with him ? Let him get away with it! Just because things have gotten bad will he get out? Nobody here is an idiot!” he shouted.
