Interview with Claudette Dion in “7 Jours”: Céline Dion’s health concerns the international media – Le Journal de Montréal

“Céline works hard, but she has no control over her muscles,” explained Claudette Dion, the singer's sister, who suffers from stiff person syndrome, in a recent interview published in the magazine 7 days.

Since then, these unexpected revelations about Celine Dion's illness have made the rounds in the international press and been picked up by numerous media outlets: in the USA, the Los Angeles Times and the gossip site TMZ quoted the interview, and in France, Le Parisien, Le Figaro, Vanity too Fair and celebrity sites Ici and Gala expressed concern about the singer's sister's comments.

As a victim of a rare neurological disease, Celine Dion has struggled with cramps and stiffness that have forced her to cancel her shows and tour scheduled for 2024.

However, she gave her admirers hope a few weeks ago when she made a rare public appearance during a Canada game in Vegas. Five days later, she attended a Katy Perry show in Las Vegas.

As her sister revealed, Céline continues to fight and maintains “incredible morale.”

In her interview with journalist Daniel Daignault, Claudette Dion continues: “There are some who have lost hope because it is a disease that is unknown.” If you only knew how many calls we receive at the Foundation, to hear from Céline! People tell us they love her and are praying for her. She receives so many messages, gifts and blessed crucifixes.”

For her part, Claudette Dion remains worried but hopes her sister will recover. “It is certain that in our dreams and in his dreams the idea is to return to the stage. In which state? I don't know it. The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle. This is what gets me. Because it’s one case in a million, scientists didn’t do as much research because it didn’t affect as many people.”

The international press picked up on these comments and emphasized that they were “worrying” and “not very reassuring” news about the singer's health.
