Interview with the cast of The Vampire Meet the cast

Interview with the cast of The Vampire: Meet the cast of the new BBC drama, including a Doctor Who star AND a Game of Thrones actor

Anne Price’s best-selling novel Interview with the Vampire has been adapted into a BBC drama – but who are the star-studded actors behind the magic?

While the gothic romance originally aired for an American audience, British fans can now tune in via BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Another interesting aspect is the exploration of race and sexuality in 20th century Louisiana – the place where the series is set.

So who are the actors in the series about dark vampires, in which the queer romance of the vampire protagonist Louis de Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt unfolds?

Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac

Being a gay, black man was difficult in 20th century New Orleans, but things get easier when the wealthy Lestat invites Louis to join him as a vampire companion.

Jacob, who plays Louis, is best known for his work in several classic British series and appeared alongside Emilia Clarke when he portrayed the Gray Worm in the award-winning fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

But the Bristol-born star also appeared in Doctor Who as Vinder in series 13, with Jodie Whittaker reprising her role as the Doctor.

He also appeared in the ITV mystery series Broadchurch as Dean Thomas and had supporting roles in Outnumbered and medical dramas Casualty and Doctors.

Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt

Lestat is a wealthy French vampire who arrives in New Orleans, Louisiana and quickly sweeps Louis off his feet – which in turn turns him into a vampire.

Sam, who plays Lestat, is actually Australian, but has previously had roles in hit British dramas such as ITV’s Agatha Christie’s Marple and police drama Whitechapel.

But the Australian is best known for his roles in his homeland – he played Ray in the Australian miniseries The Hunting.

He also portrayed journalist Dale Jennings in the drama The Newsreader.

Bailey Bass as Claudia

Claudia – a young teenage girl – is turned into a vampire by Lestat to save her life. Through this she becomes friends with Lestat and Louis.

The American actress played by Bailey Bass comes from the deep south of the United States herself and is therefore perfect for the role.

Bailey had humble beginnings. Her acting career began when she landed a My Little Pony commercial at the age of five.

But since then, the 20-year-old has appeared in the recent Avatar films as Tsireya or “Reya” – a young Na’vi girl who is a free diver from the Metkayina clan in James Cameron’s innovative franchise.

She also played the role of Breyona Taylor in the American crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy

Daniel, played by Eric Bogosian, is a journalist, but his job has gotten him into trouble in the past – particularly when he interviewed Louis.

Since he’s from the East Coast of the United States, it makes sense that we’ve seen Eric on numerous American shows.

These include his roles in Succession – where he played Gil Eavis, as well as appearances in Scrubs and LAw & Order.

But his accolades aren’t just limited to television – he also appeared in the 2003 action comedy Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, in which he played Alan Caulfield.

Assad Zaman as Rashid

Rashid, a vampire over 500 years old, is Louis’ current lover, who manages to save the life of journalist Daniel.

Assad is a Geordian actor who trained at the Manchester School of Theater where he earned a BA in Acting.

Since then he has appeared on stage and television – and he is no stranger to darker series, having previously played the role of Stathnam in the BBC series Apple Tree Yard.

Assad has also dabbled in ITV, where he played Lee Nadella in an episode of the crime drama Vera.
