At Meta, we build products that help developers reach audiences, grow their communities, and make a living. During Creator Week 2022, we invite creators around the world to join us to advance their careers, connect with like-minded people, and build a future together. We’re also announcing new ways for creators to earn money on Facebook and Instagram.
Updates to digital collectibles
Developers will soon be able to create their own digital collectibles on Instagram and sell them to fans on and off Instagram. You have an end-to-end toolkit – from creation (starting on the Polygon blockchain) to presentation to sale. People can easily support their favorite creators by buying their digital collectibles directly on Instagram. We’re initially testing these new features with a small group of creators in the US and hope to expand to more countries soon.
We’re also expanding the types of digital collectibles you can showcase on Instagram with videos and adding support for the Solana blockchain and the Phantom wallet, in addition to the blockchains and wallets we already support. Finally, information for selected collections where metadata has been enriched by OpenSea, such as B. collection name and descriptions, will now be available on Instagram.
Audience support for creators
We make it easier for people to show their appreciation for their favorite creators in our apps, which helps creators grow their community and grow their business.
Subscriptions on Instagram
We’re expanding access to subscriptions on Instagram to all eligible creators in the US, so more creators can earn predictable revenue and connect more closely with their most engaged followers. Since the launch of subscriptions earlier this year, we’ve seen creatives like Cole Sprouse (@colesprouse), Alan Chow (@alanchikinchow), and Skai Jackson (@skaijackson) use subscriptions to get even closer to their most dedicated supporters.
stars and gifts
We’re making it easier for people to discover Stars on Facebook by automatically enabling Stars on public content from creators, including Reels. That means people can learn more about and use stars in more places on Facebook. We test with a select number of creators worldwide.
For creators who are already using Stars, we are introducing new features to make it easier to collect Stars and interact with Star Senders:
- Bring Stars Party on wheels. A Stars Party is a Stars Community challenge that ends with a celebration when the creator achieves their goal.
- testing a new series of virtual gifts tailored to specific content. For example, if you’re looking at a puppy roll from your favorite animal creator, you can send that creator a dog-themed gift.
- Expand Creators’ ability to connect with Star Senders, like adding a filter in the comments manager that shows all of a creator’s star comments in one place. This interface allows creators to reply to multiple comments at once.
- bring stars public non-video content such as photos and text posts.
We introduce Gifts on Instagram starting with Reels, so creators have a new way to earn money from fans who love their reels. To support their favorite creators, fans can send gifts on Reels by purchasing Stars on Instagram. We’re initially testing this with a small group of creators in the US and hope to expand to more creators soon.
Professional mode for Facebook profiles
We’re launching Professional Mode for Facebook Profiles, a new profile setting that allows creators around the world to build a public presence while maintaining their personal Facebook experience. Professional Mode offers creators and those wanting to become one a range of tools and opportunities to start building a global community through their personal profile. With Pro Mode, creators can qualify to earn money through Stars, Ads on Facebook Reels, In-Stream Ads, and Reels Play. You also have access to content and audience analytics, educational resources, and more.
