Dating app Tinder announced Monday the launch of a new feature: Tinder MatchmakerTM. This should allow your friends and family to access Tinder and recommend profiles to you.
The application is based on a study that found that 75% of singles talk to their friends and loved ones about their love life several times a month.
“This feature turns modern dating into a team sport by essentially incorporating the ‘friend test.’ Users can now invite others, whether they have a Tinder profile or not, to view and suggest potential matches,” Tinder said in a statement.
“Tinder users can see who their friends like for them when they’re thinking about a potential date, but like in real life, it’s ultimately the user who decides who to message. “Like,” the press release says.
Currently, the feature is only available in a few countries: the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
It will roll out to Tinder users worldwide in the coming months.
How it works ?
Tinder explains that a Tinder matchmaker session can be started directly from a profile card or in the app settings. Users can share their unique link with up to 15 friends within 24 hours.
After clicking on the link, the partner can log in to Tinder or continue as a guest. Matchmakers have 24 hours to play Cupid before the session expires. You can then recommend profiles to the Tinder user, but not chat or message on their behalf.
Once the session expires, Tinder users will be able to view the profiles that matchmakers have liked for them. Profiles that have received a “like” from a matchmaker are marked as “recommendation”.
