The crash occurred on Sunday afternoon with a US Marine Corps Lockheed Martin F35B Lightning II. This aircraft, the only one of its kind in the world, has a very low radar signature and is also capable of vertical landing and takeoff.

The crashed fighter is based at Naval Air Station Beaufort in South Carolina, but underwent training at Joint Air Force Base Charleston in the same state.

The details of the accident have not yet been released by the military, but the Charleston base said on Twitter that the Marine had ejected safely and had already been rescued, but the plane itself could not be located.

The number +1 (843) 9633600 has been made available so that anyone with information about the fighter’s whereabouts can call and inform military authorities. The F35 fighter jet project, which includes the standard versions A and C for use on aircraft carriers, is the most expensive project in the world’s military aerospace sector, which was initially heavily criticized for several problems and delays, but today it has established itself as NATO’s most important 5th generation fighter aircraft.

We work with you @MCASBeaufortSC to locate an F35 that was involved in an accident this afternoon. The pilot ejected safely. If you have information that could help our recovery teams locate the F35, please call the Base Defense Operations Center at 8439633600.
