While the first deliveries of the new iPhone 15 range began this Friday, customers are having fun and testing the innovations of these new smartphones from the Apple brand.

In particular, we know that the second generation chip present in these phones offers interesting functionality. Find My thus offers users the opportunity to find friends with an iPhone 15 nearby.

Impressive progress

And in fact, the YouTube channel Teknófilo has just tested this option in a large-scale experiment. In this short video we can see how an iPhone 15 connects to a device of the same range from 60 meters away. As our colleagues at 9to5Mac rightly point out, this is a far greater distance than searching for AirTags.

However, it must also be taken into account that this experiment is carried out outdoors under optimal conditions. We can imagine that the recognition performance of smartphones that are indoors is significantly lower.

In any case, and as we can see very clearly in the images, the technology seems to be very well developed and we appreciate the sense of detail in these arrows that lead us to the final destination.

Apple also made it clear during its presentation that the second-generation chip guarantees a range that is up to three times greater than the U1. While AirTags’ range is around 15 meters, 60 meters would be even better than the tech giant’s specifications. This also suggests an improvement in the precision of Apple’s trackers once the AirTags benefit from this new electronic chip.
