The company Ookla, which publishes the famous Speedtest speed test – available in the form of an application or a website – has just published a report on the 5G performance of the current iPhone 15.
It shows that the iPhone 15 (15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max) is significantly faster than previous iPhones, but also than the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Flip 5 as well as the Fold 4 and Fold 5. The test results were between September 22nd and October 20th, 2023 and if there are differences between the countries, the increases remain clearly visible in the vast majority of cases, with some very significant increases. One of the interesting points obviously comes from the average speed: in the Philippines, for example, it is quite low (141 Mbps at best), while South Korea can go up to almost 600 Mbps and the United Arab Emirates has average speeds of more than 800 Mbps with the iPhone 15 Pro. The differences are due to the operators’ decisions rather than Apple’s.
Not all 5G networks are the same.
And in France?
In France, the average speed of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 331 Mbps in 5G, and Ookla says the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max are 18% faster than their predecessors.
French results.
The gains are likely to be largely due to Apple’s choice of new 5G chip, Qualcomm’s X70 modem.
