Apple has started rolling out updates to its operating system. At the iPhone level, iOS 16.3 brings improvements and new features, as well as the correction of certain bugs.
New in iOS 16.3 is end-to-end encryption of iCloud data, which is much more secure.
iOS 16.3 also benefits from a new system that allows you to identify yourself to an Apple account using a second physical authentication key. This system enables two-factor authentication via an external hardware key and not from the device.
Apple ID security keys allow users to increase the security of their account by requiring the use of a physical security key as part of the two-factor authentication process on new devices.
The latest update improves some features like emergency calls that were previously too easily triggered; It is now required to press and hold the side button with the volume up or down button and then release it to contact emergency services.
Regarding the satellite emergency SOS feature, which is only compatible with the new iPhone 14 range, it can be issued more easily by pressing the side and volume buttons. A countdown is then activated before the SOS is sent directly.
Other minor software issues have been fixed to provide more security and smoothness.
iOS 16.3 is compatible with iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone X, XR, XS Max, XS, 11, 11 Pro and Max, iPhone SE, iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14
